NEC classic car show

Despite the dreadful weather today I had a very enjoyable visit to the NEC Classic Car show today. Highlights included the ex Steve McQueen Ferrari 250 Lusso, on the Ferrari Owners Club GB stand and an ultra rare Maserati 5000GT (with body work by Allemano) on the Maserati club stand.

The Ferrari stand also featured a LWB 250 California and a rare early 250 Europa. The three 250's were joined by a Silver Daytona sporting the optional wider 9" rear wheels (would like a set of those for mine) and an Enzo which unusually was Burgundy (Rosso Fiorano) rather than the usual Rosso Corsa.  Other Maserati's included a Ghibli, Mistrale, Indy and a 3500GTI.

The American car clubs were out in force and I have to admit as a guilty pleasure being rather taken with a Dodge Challenger 440R/T. Both Porsche Club GB and the Independent Porsche club TIPEC had large displays but both were largely made up of more modern modeld although thr PCGB stand did feature a lovely early 356 and a rally prepared early 911. The highlight for older Porsche fans had to be the 356 Carrara tucked away on Nick Whale's dealer stand.
