Bruno Senna onboard Mclaren MP4-8 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Bruno Senna has posted this on-board video of driving his Uncle's old Mclaren MP4-8 back down the hill from the finish to the pits. Not often you get a drivers eye view of driving an F1 car. He apparently was steering with his right hand and holding his phone with his left.

A beautiful Sunny day at Goodwood for the Saturday of the 2010 Festival of Speed. As usual the show surpassed itself with an unrivalled collection of cars from the historic to the latest F1 Cars. Personal favourites includied the Jim Clark's Lotus 38 run for the first time since its win in the Indy 500 (sadly not in the photos), the Uhlenhaut Mercedes 300 SLR coupe and the wonderful Alfa Romeo 8c 2900 Le Mans Coupe.

Goodwood Festival of speed

I'm off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.  To get in the mood here is a short video from last year of Lewis Hamilton doing donuts in a Mclaren Mercedes SLR 722 Roadster. For once Hamilton didn't get into trouble with the authorities for being over exuberant with a high powered Mercedes road car.

Ferrari Daytona (Very) Long Term Test report Update 5 Supercar Sunday

My wonderful Fiancée reckons that the Daytona is her only rival for my affections. Well that's not true as no car can replace my fantastic lady (I'll now find out if she reads the blog). It is true though that the Daytona does hold a special place in my heart and I can't imagine ever selling it.

Ferrari Daytona (Very) Long Term Test report update 2 2010

8:30 on a Sunday morning and the outside temprature gauge on the Alfa read -3C as I drew up outside the lair where the Daytona slumbers. Probably not the best time to be thinking about driving a 36 year old Ferrari that doesn't normally venture out unless the outside temprature is well into double figures. However there was not a cloud in the sky and the roads were dry and Goodwood were holding th first of there Sunday Breakfast clubs this time for pre 1973 tax exempt cars (the more attentive readers might recall that my Daytona is actually a 1973 car but hey close enough).

There is nothing like a good drive in a V12 Ferrari to blow the cobwebs away on an autumnal Sunday. Well I think so and apparently the organisers of the Goodwood Breakfast Club agree with me as today's event was themed around Maserati and the other so called Italian Icons.

Goodwood Revival Best of British

Another montage, this time of some of the British cars and aircraft at the Goodwood Revival 2009. The Mini featured heavily, with the dedicated St Mary's Trophy. I much preferred the Jaguar and Aston Martin racers especially the (probably Lynx replica) XKSS in the Tax exempt parking. Some of the lightweight E types in the RAC TT looked heavily modified notably the perspex windowed and tailgated coupe driven by Eddie Cheever and Martin Stretton.

Ferraris at the Goodwood Revival Version 2

I have tweaked the Ferraris at Goodwood Revival video. There are some minor changes to the content including the Dino 246F1 and Lancia Ferrari D50. Also this version has been loaded into Vimeo for higher resolution and has lost the aging effects.

Here is a montage of video and photographs of Ferraris (and a few other sights and sounds) at the Goodwood Revival 2009. The 250GTO's and SWB's need no introduction but also shown is the rare (one of four) 330LMB which won the RAC TT race at the Revival in 2008.

Also in the photos is a rather lovely recreation of a 156 Sharknose. Normally I don't approve of recreations but as none of the originals still exist and this one is about as close as you can get, to the original I'll make an exception.

The 330LMB, and the 250GTO/64 were again front runners in this years TT but had to give best to Adrian Newey's highly developed lightweight Jaguar E Type (seen in one of the video sections).
