Which is the Coolest Ferrari

That is a question that is not easy to answer, as everybodies idea of what is cool is different. For me a cool car cannot be an obvious choice which rules out many of the more famous models such as my personal favourite Ferrari the Daytona.

Instead it should of the sort of car which can be appreciated by its owner without the need to shout to the world that it's a Ferrari, and those that know can give a knowing smile as one drives past. So here is my list of top 5 cool Ferraris in reverse order .

5. 288GTO. Okay the GTO is obviously a Ferrari, but it's far more subtle than the closely related F40 and many would mistake it for the far more common 308. It also looks absolutely stunning.

4. 250GTE Not the prettiest Ferrari (in my opinion) but it is a car that shares a lot in common with the 250SWB. Also as many have been chopped up to make GTO and SWB replicas (which the market values as being worth more than a GTE) the owner deserves the knowing smile that (s)he has kept the car as it should be.

3. 275GTB/4 Nart Spyder. Again this is another obvious Ferrari, but these are much rarer (9 made) than the 250 California, they are probably the sexiest convertible ever and the icing on the cake Steve McQueen owned one.

2. 365GTC. This one ticks every box, a great looking GT from the late sixties which doesn't need to shout to the world that it's a super expensive supercar. Not that many were sold (mainly as the Daytona was available by the time this was launched. While the extra pair of cams and probably more slippery body mean the Daytona is ultimately faster in the real world there is not much difference.

1. 500 Superfast. A super Ferrari that was built for the great and the good in the sixties, many of the 36 Superfasts made had celebrity (and even Royal) first owners, Peter Sellers and Gianni Agnelli among them. The car has subtle rather than showy styling but with a claimed 400bhp it was one of the fastest cars you could buy when new.

So exclusivity, famous patronage, huge performance and subtle looks the Ferrari 500 Superfast is the coolest Ferrari.
