Ferrari Daytona (Very) Long Term Test report Update 3
After two very stressful weeks in India with work, the opportunity to excise the Daytona came as very welcome relief.
On the subject of India I can't image anywhere less suitable to use a Daytona or any other Ferrari, classic or modern for that matter. Road conditions are awful and there seems to be no form of driving standards whatsoever. I'm sure the Daytona would also struggle in the searing heat over 40c every single day I was there.
The somewhat more temperate weather in the UK suited the Daytona nicely as I fired it up to head for the Surrey section of the Ferrari owners club's monthly pub meet. Since it's winter service the Daytona is running very well, and noticeably freer revving than before.
The drive to the meet although relatively short was not entirely without incident, I was heading there in convoy with my Dad in his 330GTS and for some inexplicable reason one of the headlight bezels on the 330 detached itself and after falling under the rear wheels of the disappeared into the undergrowth at the side of the road, not to be found again. Dad is not searching the internet to source a replacement but if anyone knows where one can be obtained please get in touch.
The Surrey section is one of the larger county sections of the Ferrari Owner Club GB so these meets can bring a wide selection of cars although most tend to be the modern tipos. Today the older models included a 246 Dino and a 512BBi.
In other developments I have now booked up for the Daytona's big trip this year as we will be heading to the Le Mans Classic in July. Should be a fun drive through France and I'm really looking for to stretching the Daytona's legs again.
