Nurburgring 24 Hours

It's the Nurburgring 24 hours this weekend, the blue riband race for the VLN series. As my beautiful girlfriend is arriving from the States this weekend I am unable to attend but for those interested in following the race I would suggest a couple of follows on Twitter as two of EVO magazines journalists will be competing.

Chris Harris (@harrismonkey) will be competing in a near stock Porsche 997GT3 RS entered by Porsche itself.  Other than slicks and safety mods the car is road legal, It has prove pretty competitive in the intial VLN events

Meanwhile Richard "Dickie" Meaden (@dickiemeaden) will be competing in as works entered  Aston Martin V12 Vantage. It's actually the same car in which he won the SP8 class at the event last year, although this year it has gained some serious aerodynamic enhancements which should increase cornering speeds although possibly at the expense of straight line speed.

Both cars and serious entries and whilst 24 hour races at the ring can be something of a lottery, if they have trouble free runs you can expect both cars to be pretty high up the finishing order. I expect both with be tweeting updates and possibly answering questions in between their driving stints. Chris is also blogging the race on Evo's website (link below although you need to complete the free registration to the community section to read the blogs)

Good luck to both Chris and Dickie (my preference for front engined V12 cars means that of the two I'll be cheering for Dickie slightly more) and all the other drivers taking part.
