The Daytona gets a clean and the Grifo gets deconstructed

The Griffin (which Grifo is in Italian) is the mythical creature which ate horses. As you can see from the pictures, it will be some time before the this Grifo is ready to take on the Prancing Horses of Ferrari.

The engine, glass and almost all of the interior trim is out in readiness for the car to go to media blasting.  There is more rust than previously thought, particularly in the floors with several holes showing through.  Interesting as well as the areas of old English white under the black paint there are also indications that the car may have been metallic red at some point it it's life as well.  Dad has also managed to establish that prior to his acquisition the car was a one owner car.

Meanwhile I gave the Daytona a much needed clean after the Le Mans trip last weekend. The permaguard treatment makes this a relatively painless task as a rinse with water and a sponge is all that is needed to restore the shine.

A small issue which happened occasionally on the trip has reoccurred whereby the starter motor begins to spin at position 2 on the key, apparently this is wear on the ignition block which needs to be replaced.
